Borderlands 2 Message In A Bottle Lighthouse Location Guide

Finding hidden loot in Borderlands 2 adds an extra layer of excitement to exploring Pandora, particularly within the Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty DLC. Among the various side quests available, searching for buried treasure via messages in bottles requires keen observation and precise movement. One of the most confusing locations for players to solve is the treasure quest tied to Magnys Lighthouse.
Finding the Bottle in Magnys Lighthouse
Before you can claim the hidden treasure chest, you must first locate the message in a bottle itself. In the Magnys Lighthouse zone, the bottle can be found near the wreckage on the lower levels before taking the main elevator up. Interacting with the bottle updates your objective marker and reveals the approximate location of Captain Maroon's stash.
Many players make the mistake of searching the surrounding ground area around the anchors when following the map icon. However, the waypoint marker can be deceptive due to the verticality of the terrain. Exploring the lower sands will yield no results because the stash is situated high on an isolated rock ledge.
Reaching the Top of the Lighthouse
To access the secret chest, you must ascend to the very top of Magnys Lighthouse. Ride the elevator up and make your way to the top deck where the compass mechanism is located. Once you reach the highest outdoor platform, you will need to look over the outer railing.
Positioning yourself along the deck allows you to survey the surrounding cliffside structures down below. From the edge, look down towards the rocky outcrops to spot a large black X marked on the surface of a nearby rock formation. This distinct mark indicates the exact landing spot needed to claim your loot.
Executing the Leap to the X Mark
Once you align your position with the target below, carefully step onto the ledge or railing. You will need to take a running leap off the lighthouse platform directly toward the rock containing the mark. Falling short or overshooting means taking massive fall damage or having to climb all the way back up to try again.
Landing directly on the X allows you to interact with the hidden chest and claim your reward. Completing these optional challenges is a great way to earn extra weapons, currency, and experience points during your playthrough. Mastering this vertical jump ensures you can clear the quest without unnecessary backtracking.
